The CDC/Biennale
The CDC/Biennale de Danse du Val-de-Marne is a non-profit organisation founded in 1981, taking the form of a festival every two years. It rapidly became one of the foremost French events involved in the creation, promotion and distribution of new choreographic work. It was founded by Michel Caserta, its director until 2009, when Daniel Favier succeeded him.
Presentation
Our missions include presenting dance performances, by means of different events.
These events are in part built upon our commitment in favour of co-producing new works: we accompany and support the projects of numerous dance companies with financial, logistic and artistic assistance. This aid can take different forms: contributions as co-producers, commissioning new works, the Accueil-Studio programme, and providing rehearsal space.
We also carry out original activities in dance and audience education and awareness, aimed at varied publics, from neophytes to amateur dancers to professionals.
The CDC/Biennale has now been in existence for more than thirty years. All of its activities are based on partnerships: we have built our entire programme in collaboration with diverse partners, the first of which are the theatres and municipal cultural services of the Val-de-Marne region. But our partnerships also lead us, in function of our varied projects, to working with theatres outside the Val-de-Marne and with diverse organisations – dance schools for example, or the network of Centres de Développement Chorégraphique.
