Gabriel Hernàndez and his company will perform (dance and visual arts) in various places throughout the two days of the Plateaux.
Gabriel Hernández develops a very personal way of composing dance, through computer programs. His work is also inspired by contemporary architecture (Peter Eisenman, Greg Lynn, Nox and Marcos Novak), biology, physics, complexity sciences, and contemporary music.

Maxence Rey, as a dancer, works with Isabelle Esposition, Oliver Compte, Nicole Mossoux/Patrick Bonté, Christian Bourigault, Geisha Fontaine/Pierre Cottreau… Les Bois de l’ombre is the first solo she has choreographed.

This is Aude Lachaise’s first creation. It is composed as a “one woman show”, dealing with desire (embodied by Marlon Brando). As a dancer, Aude Lachaise has worked with Eszter Salamon, Olga Mesa, Kataline Patkaï, Robyn Orlin, Nathalie Pernette, Rémy Héritier, Didier Théron, Laure Bonicel, Félix Rückert, Geisha Fontaine and Pierre Cottreau.

Pascal Allio’s new creation examines his career as a dancer, the works that made him grow up and become who he is now. In this piece, he shows, among others, Christine Bastin’s dances taken from Bless (1989) and Gueule de Loup (1992), dances adapted from Jean Gaudin’s L'Ascète de San Clémente et la Vierge Marie (1986) and from Daniel Larrieu’s Jungle sur la planète Vénus (1992).

The Making of Doubt takes the human doll as an emblem of representation and places it within the real and impossible condition of its words and actions. Is it possible to extend the notion of agency beyond the human? How much authenticity does the viewer need to construct a system of belief around the fake - what details could be left out or taken away?

Influenced by butô and improvisation, Laurence Pagès has created several pieces where breathing holds a central position. Corps de luttes explores the radical constraint of apnoea.

Isabelle Botti worked with Carolyn Carlson, Odile Azagury, Claire Filmon and Jean-Marc Matos. In La Balançoire (“The swing”), she explores swinging, which reflects the turmoil of metamorphosis and trance, and leads to a new sensorial experience.

Eléonore Didier works on the fact that, in Ancient Greece and Rome, there was no distinction between homosexuality and heterosexuality, but between passive and active attitudes. Her solo finds its way between those attitudes, sometimes active, sometimes passive, working on vertical and horizontal axes, and on the representations of femininity.

This solo deals with the life of a dancer – it is performed by Corinne Lopez, whose career began in the 1980’s. It begins as an examination at dance school, and then goes throughout the memories and various experiences which punctuate a dancer’s life.

This piece, for four dancers and a car, explores what a car represents in several contexts (in a city, in the country, in other states…). It is also about exploring new ways of acting and interacting on the road. Pedestrians meet each other, communicate and interact with the car, which becomes a playing field.

In 2006, Laurence Yadi and Nicolas Cantillon created Climax, a solo performed by Nicolas Cantillon, based on a succession of emblematic images taken from dance history, sports and politics. Then they recreated this piece with a guitarist on stage – first Sir Richard Bishop, then Steffen Basho-Junghans.

Isabelle Anna is one of the few “non-Indian” dancers officially acknowledged by the Indian government to represent Kathak in other countries. Kathak Opus 3 is a new creation which follows the rules of traditional Kathak, and which shows off the freedom given to the dancers in their inventiveness and interactions.

Hélène Cathala was a dancer in Dominique Bagouet’s company. She created her first company in 1993 with Fabrice Ramalingom. In this new creation, she works on folk singers, and the way they used both committed texts and everyday words, together with vocal emphasis and even, sometimes, technical virtuosity. Talking Blues is especially inspired by American poet Allen Ginsberg and his long poem HOWL, haunted and blunt.
 

 

Reading - Repères, cahier de danse

            

Repères, cahier de danse is a dance review that is published twice a year by CDC / Biennale de danse du Val-de-Marne. Sylviane Pagès will read her text about the way Merce Cunningham was received in France, published in the last issue (April 2009).

Pénélope Hausermann was trained in Marcel Marceau’s mime school. She is also a trapeze artist. She has worked with Transe-Express, Benoît Lachambre or Philippe Decouflé.

Julia Cima works on dance video archives, and proposes an original path throughout dance history – the Rumberas (Mexican musicals of the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s), the Cake-Walk, the Butô… Some dances she had learnt for her previous solo, Visitations, are also present in Danse Hors cadre, such as Duncan’s Revolutionary Etude or Valeska Gert’s short dances, as they can be presented in various spaces.
